3/5 Stars
Floyd Conner has composed several of these top 10 books covering a variety of sports including baseball, football and hockey. In the back of this book it states he is a life long football fan and in the text states he was at least an old school wrestling fan, and quite likely present day also. He has composed a daily sports fact calendar too which would be a best seller.
This is a book that is meant to be light of heart, a nice leisurely read that you can pick up at anytime, read a list or two, put it back down until the next time you fancy reading a top 10 something or other that's wrestling related. Floyd starts with an introduction giving the reader a glimpse on what to expect in the following pages. He lists some names such as Amish Roadkill, the Rock, Kevin Nash A.K.A. Oz or Big Sexy, Mr. T, Hulk Hogan, Morgus the Maniac, Kane A.K.A. the Christmas Creature or Dr. Isaac Yankaam, Sunny, and Kimberly Page among many other names, it boasts that there are over 700 grapplers in total featured within this book. Here is a list of just some of the categories you can find in this book: Entertaining Entrances, Celebrity Wrestlers, Music to their Ears, Incredible Names, From NFL to the WWF, They're Animals, Beasts Bruisers and Brutes, Call Me Mister T, Too Sexy for their Trunks, Totally Outrageous, Sex and Violence, Whose Side are you On? Multiple Personalities, Kings of the Ring, German Grapplers, Cold Warriors, Cowboys and Cowgirls, Terrific Tag Teams, Adding Insult to Injury, Heavies, Giants, Wrestler's Wrestlers, High Flyers, Soul Takers and Undertakers, Dirty Wrestlers, Props, Grudge Matches, They Died too Soon, and Finishing Moves.
Wrestling's Most Wanted a book of top 10 lists is always going to be controversial, everybody will have their own opinion on who should be in these lists depending on what era they grew up watching and how interested they are in the history of this business. Floyd Conner manages to give lists compiled of names covering over 4 decades and throws out there some names you wouldn't normally think of from the late 90's independent wrestling to earlier stars. The only main problem with this book though is it's factually inaccurate. When a wrestler, match, stipulation, prop, manager etc., is named in one of his lists he gives a reason to why they should be included. Besides from some of these explanations being tedious at best, some of them are partially or entirely inaccurate. At first you over look them as they are small trivial era's, but, as you gone reading you realize they get less and less trivial and just totally erroneous, if he had just spent a little more time researching then Floyd Conner would have put together a pretty damn good book of top 10 lists.
