JANUARY 1933
JANUARY 3, 1933 (TUESDAY)
Promoter: Charlie Rentrop
Memorial Auditorium, Chattanooga, Tennessee
Referee: Bobby Burns
1 - Dobie Osborne def. Chief Lakeside
2 - French LaRue def. Jimmy Canfield,
Two Falls to One
3 - Swede Esloon def. Chief Lakeside,

Notes:
Esloon was a soldier from nearby Fort Oglethorpe.
An article ran in the January 4th Chattanooga News speculating that Rentrop was trying to starve the town of good wrestlers because he did not want to promote shows with the American Legion, and only provided subpar talent for what resulted in a disappointing show.
There was a second article reporting that the American Legion had drafted a bill to present to the Tennessee legislature “to bring all wrestling and boxing shows in the state of Tennessee under the supervision and direct responsibility of the American Legion.”
The intent was to establish a statewide boxing and wrestling commission, run by the Legion.
A previous bill had been passed, but it only affected counties with a population of 200,000 or more, and at the time, that only included Shelby County, where Memphis is located.

Until this show, wrestling in Chattanooga had been largely a heavyweight affair, promoted by Charles Rentrop, out of Memphis.
Light heavyweight shows ran for several years, the outdoor often surpassing the attendance of the heavyweight cards.
Some of that may have had to do with the inconsistent schedule of the heavyweight cards, which were prone to be scheduled nearly any day of the week, sometimes weekly, sometimes every other week.
