"The new regustration laws of the A.A.U. are now in operation. They give to the members of the Committee all the powers that were formerly vester in the Board of Governors and subcommittees. Each and every member of the committee in his own district is supreme. He has the right to sanction games, schedule games fo A.A.U clubs, suspend athletes, reinstate athletes, try all cases of infractions of the rules, and to solicit and receive applications for registration from athletes. According to a recent decision of the committee, all athletes who apply for registration now will receive cards to March 1, 1899. The cards are now in possession of the chairman. The registration cards this year will entitle the athlete to admission to all championship meetings of the A.A.U., and all sectional association championships. For instance, the registration cards issued from now on will admit the holder to the Gymnastic Championships, Boxing and Wrestling Championships, Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Billiard Championships, Basket Ball and Handball Championships, and other important events. It will be necessary, however, for the athletes to have the [new?] 1898 card to obtain these priviliges, therefore it will be to the advantage of the registered athletes who are now on the books and desire to retain their numbers to apply for renewal at once. Applications for renewal should be sent ot the member of the committee in the districts where the athletes reside. Track athletes, gymnasts, basket-ball players, and all other athletes competing in amateur events will be required to register. The following is a list of the members of the committee, with addresses:
Metropolitan Association; Bartow S. Weeks, 100 Broadway, New York.

"These Swedish giants toy with great masses of iron that would almost crush an ordinary man...Johnson picks up a 348-pound weight, raises it above his head with both hands and holds it there with one hand. Lundin takes a long iron bar, weighing 148 pounds, and places it across his shoulders. A good sized man then leaps astride his neck. Three heavy men suspend themselves from each end of the bar, and then Lundin walks around the stage, sustaining the seven men and the bar, apparently with the same ease as a mother carries her 4-months-old babe."
