ROMAN WRESTING.
They have also engaged the aid of Mr. Bennett of the Olympic Club, and known as the champion of America. In company with several of his best pupils in gymnasitics."
The write-up the next day says:
"Platt's Hall - The exhibition of Roman wrestling, given last night, was a novelty, and seemed to give great satisfaction to the audience. The wrestlers are naked above the waist, and the 'hold' is obtained by pressure of the hands on the flesh, or by grasping the arms. It is more fatiguing and painful to the contestants than the other modes of wrestling, and fully as exciting."

Nolan's ankle was swollen badly from his match with Farrell the night before.
The men in match three refused to wrestle stating they were too tired.
It's said to be the first time Catch-as-Catch-Can has been shown in the city.
"The tournament ended in a wrangle." The final match was disputed as McGovern was awarded the fall, but Matthews claimed a foul against him due to McGovern having grabbed the rope.
The Sacramento Daily Union reported that the "six days' tournament" finished today.
McGovern then offered to wrestle any man at Catch-as-Catch-Can for $500, but when Daily, "the swimmer," answered the challenge it came to light that McGovern did not have the money to back his challenge.
The championship belt and prizes are to be held until the collar and elbow contest between Watson & Farrell has been decided during January in Sacramento.
Nolan & Driscoll actually wrestled for the championship belt and prizes on January 25, 1880 in the Recreation Grounds.
