Before the Cazeaux-Link bout, John Paul Abs, a 260lb German wrestler, stepped through the ropes and challenge Cazeaux.
This led to George Kenedy, manager of the Canadian Athletic Club, ordering abs from the ring.
A fight broke out between Abs, Kennedy, Link, Cazeaux and Birks.

The referee stopped the bout and the orchestra struck up a tune.
Finally George Kennedy announced that Birks had given a flal to each grappler and after a ten minute interval the match would continue.
