Greece
This year "was similar to 1939 in that there were still shows going on, but seemingly things were slowing down in terms of the number of events being run. Harry Karpozilos and Paraschos Boras were the two main headliners during the year. Jim Spanos as well, but only during the first few months of the year.
...
Guys like Christos Kadas and Christos Melissovas were also around and building up their reputations. Who wasn't around, however, was Georgios Kleitomachos as 1940 saw him wrestling in Argentina and I don't have any mentions of him wrestling in Greece at all post-1939." - Phil Lions

"Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any Greek newspapers from January 1941 through May 1945 and because of that I have no idea what was going on in Greece during that time. I would imagine not a whole though, these being the years of WWII and all.
Our story picks back up again in May of 1945. Not much seemed to be happening until July and then in July a series of big shows started in Thessaloniki. While the shows in the capital Athens were still relatively small ones, wrestling in Thessaloniki (the second biggest Greek city) seemed to have caught fire.
One notable name was missing from Athens and that was Boras. Shortly after his bout with Lambrakis in Thessaloniki Boras went to wrestle overseas in Egypt, where he would spent several months. Jim Spanos, another one of the top Greek names during this time, wasn't around either. " - Phil Lions

Greece
"As best as I can tell 1946 was the year when the Athens scene somewhat returned to how it was before 1939, i.e. there were somewhat regular weekly shows and sometimes even two shows per week. They were still running mostly theater and cinema halls, usually on Sundays. The biggest venue was probably Perroke Theater, which could hold up to 3,000 fans. As of 1946 the main Greek stars were Harry Karpozilos, Andreas Lambrakis, Paraschos Boras, Nikolaos Iliopoulos and Jim Spanos, with guys like Elias Panagos, Meintanis, Georgios Papadakis, Christos Melissovas and Christos Kadas right below them. All of them were wrestlers who got their start in the 1930s. Most of the Athens shows in 1946 were headlined by Karpozilos.
...
There were a lot of shows outside of Athens in 1946. More than any other year up to that point. At least based on my records. Thessaloniki, Chios, Alexandroupolis, Chalcis, Nicosia, Komotini, Limasol, etc. were some of the places that had wrestling shows in 1946. The island of Chios was an interesting one. It seems that Jim Spanos had settled there and was headlining a number of shows at a local stadium there.
...

Greece
This "was an odd year in a sense that I was able to find mentions only of about a dozen or so shows in Athens and one show outside of Athens. I'm not sure whether this means that they weren't running shows as regularly or that the press just wasn't reporting on the shows. Still, there were some interesting events during the year.
...
Here I would like to make a quick sidenote about the championships in Greek pro wrestling. Up to this mention of Melissovas as champion the only other two guys that I know were billed as Greek champions were Boras and Kleitomachos in the 1930s. I've also seen a photo of Karpozilos from the 1930s where he's photographed with a championship belt, very similar in design to the belt Melissovas won. I have no idea if it was the same title or a title for a different weight class since Karpozilos was a middleweight in the 1930s. Either way, championships weren't a major part of Greek pro wrestling, as best as I can tell. They had their Greek title (or titles?), but also later on had an European and even a World championship. Neither of the belts was being defended on a regular basis.
...
But enough about the belts. Let's get back to 1947. From February though June there were a few shows in Athens, all headlined by Karpozilos.
Up to 1947 Greek pro wrestling had been very closed off from the world. 99.9% of the matches had been Greek wrestler vs. Greek wrestler. By all accounts very few foreign wrestlers had worked in Greece up to that point and if they had it was just for a match or two. A few years later that would change and the shows would feature a lot of foreign talent as the Greek hero slaying the foreign menace would become the main tool of Greek pro wrestling for drawing a crowd. 1947 was the first year where this began to change. Now, most of the shows were still Greeks wrestling Greeks, but in 1947 for the first time foreign wrestlers were brought in for an extended run of shows in Athens." - Phil Lions

All three started off as amateurs and then turned pro later on.

"Midway through the year Boras reappeared in Athens and headlined some shows. Also, Melissovas was now wrestling abroad (Austria, for example), and in a couple of years he would go to the States and become known as Chris Averoff and thus he was no longer part of the local scene.
By the looks of it the 1940s was a decade where while there may not have been as many shows as there were in the 1930s Greek pro wrestling was definitely on the rise in terms of popularity. By now guys like Karpozilos and Lambrakis, along with a few others, were firmly established as the top stars of the local scene and their prime years were yet to come. In addition to this foreign wrestlers, which were soon to become a corner stone of Greek pro wrestling, were now being brought in and used to put over the local names." - Phil Lions
