Ende Hinweise / End Notes:
The BNSF was the governing body for all sports in Bulgaria. It appears to have been formed earlier in 1942.
The tournament lasted two or three days, it is not clear which.
Bulgarian "Folk Wrestling" was contested under similar rules to Turkish Oil Wrestling, but minus the oil. For this tournament the rules were slightly amended to appease the Bulgarian nation who had grown used to the American Catch-as-Catch-Can pro-wrestling style over the past several years. It was also a single elimintation affair.
Although it had a distinct pro-wretling influence and was contested in a ring rather than on a field like normal, it was as far as is known a legitimate tournament and not worked.
There was a severe lack of amateur wrestlers willing to compete in the tournament so it ended up being mainly pro-wrestlers who appeared in the tournament.
Match 2 saw two brothers square off.
A. Georgieff is said to be the tallest Bulgarian pro-wrestler with a billed height of six-foot-nine (210cm approx).
Marinoff was a newcomer entering the tournament as an amateur. With the win he became an instant hit. Immediately comparisons were drawn between he and Dan Koloff due to his physical strength and a rough visual resemblance to the former Bulgarian top pro-wrestling star. He picked up the nicknames "Koloff II" and "King Kong II" because of this. The latter being what Koloff was dubbed in France.
It is not clear when these two matches took place. The matches listed above all happened on the final day:
1 - Bulgarian Light Heavyweight Championship - Semi-Final
Evlogi Georgieff def. Krum Petroff
2 - Bulgarian Light Heavyweight Championship - Semi-Final
Icho Klaeff Vs. Slavcho Dimitroff,
Result Unknown
