October began with five cards held on Wednesday the 1st. In Alexandria the card opened with a women’s match between Jo Ann Mullenniex and Ella Waldek. The match ended in a 10 minute draw.
The second match of the night, between Jimmy Siksay and Raoul Lopez, also ended in a 10 minute draw.
The main event was a mixed tag team match with Siksay & Mullenniex facing Lopez & Waldek. Mullenniex pinned Waldek to win the first fall for her team. Waldek evened the score by pinning Mullenniex to win the second fall. During the third and final fall, Siksay was trapped in the corner by Lopez & Waldek when Lopez aimed a punch at his head. Siksay ducked and Lopez hit Waldek and knocked her to the floor. A few minutes later the same situation arose, this time with Waldek aiming to punch Siksay. Siksay ducked again and Waldek flattened Lopez. Finally Siksay pinned Lopez to win the fall and the match.
That same Wednesday in Gulfport Pat Newman and Rex Mobley met in the opening match. Newman used a series of body tackles on Mobley and pinned him to win the first fall in 17 minutes. Newman also tried a body tackle on Mobley in the second fall but Mobley leap frogged him, which sent Newman crashing into the ropes. Mobley then applied his rocking chair cradle to pin Newman to win the second fall in 12 minutes. Newman forced Mobley to submit to a Boston Crab to win the final fall in 8 minutes and won the match.
The main event was a women’s match between Cora Combs and Betty Hawkins. Hawkins used a body block off the ropes to pin Combs to win the first fall in 10 minutes. Combs came back in the second fall and applied a backbreaker on Hawkins and pinned her to win the fall in 10 minutes. The two spent much of the third and deciding fall fighting on the arena floor until Combs jumped on Hawkins from the ropes and pinned her to win the fall and the match.
Also on Wednesday in Pensacola the card featured a double main event. World Light-Heavyweight champion Henry Harrell faced Sockeye Jack McDonald, former holder of the same title, in the opening event. Harrell’s title was not at stake.
In the final event of the evening Johnny Henning, the former frogman, faced Charlie Carr.
No results are known for this card.
In yet another Wednesday night card was held in Decatur. This card also featured a double main event with both matches scheduled for best two out of three falls with a 60 minute time limit. In the first event Chris Millssovas faced Al Getz.
In the second half of the main event Charlie Keene was matched with Rube Wright in a battle of veterans.
No results are known for this card but Charlie Keene was actually in Mobile that same evening. It is not known who he was replaced by.
The card in Mobile was also moved from Tuesday to Wednesday this week to accommodate and appearance by NWA World Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz.
The Mobile card opened with a one fall match between Tom Bradley and Danny Dusek. Bradley used a Boston Crab to force Dusek to submit to win the match.
In the semi-final match, Charlie Laye faced Wally Dusek. Laye pinned Dusek with a shoulder stand to win the first fall. Dusek used a leglock on Laye and forced him to submit to win the second fall and even the score. Dusek continued to work on Laye’s legs during the third and final fall at one point tying them in the ropes. Dusek continually stomped and kicked Laye while he was tied in the ropes, which resulted in a disqualification to give the fall and the match to Laye.
In the main event, Lou Thesz, accompanied by his manager Ed (Strangler) Lewis, put his title on the line against Nick Carter. The popular Carter had the fans on his side as he gave the champion all he could stand for 16 minutes. After wearing the champion down with headlocks, Carter was tossed into the ropes by Thesz and given a backdrop coming off. Carter landed on his neck and fell to an easy pin to give Thesz the first fall. Carter was unable to continue and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. By virtue of winning the only fall in the match, Thesz was awarded the match by referee Charley Keene and thus retained his title.
On Thursday in New Orleans the card opened with three one fall preliminary matches. Charlie Laye defeated Danny Dusek in the opening match.
Jimmy Siksay defeated Charley Keene in the second preliminary match.
In the third preliminary match, Tom Bradley defeated Wally Dusek.

In the main event NWA World Heavyweight champion Lou Thesz, along with Ed (Strangler) Lewis, faced challenger Raoul Lopez. Thesz defeated Lopez in two straight falls to win the match and retain his title.
On Friday in Jackson Johnny Henning and Charlie Carr met in the opening match. Carr was tossing Henning with flying mares until Henning reversed one of them and slammed Carr to the mat. Henning then pinned Carr to win the first fall. That was the only fall scored in the match before the 30 minute time limit expired. Having won the only fall, Henning was awarded the match.
The semi-final was a non-title challenge match between Henry Harrell, World Light-Heavyweight champion, and Sockeye Jack McDonald. The two had gotten into a wild scuffle following a mixed tag team match they were involved in the previous week in Jackson and both were anxious for another chance at one another. They had scarcely removed their ring robes when Harrell tore into McDonald, pinning him to win the first fall in just over 2 minutes. The two continued the furious action in the second fall until Harrell rammed his head into McDonald’s stomach with a flying tackle. The blow sent McDonald through the ring ropes and onto the ring apron, but Harrell wound up on the arena floor. Referee Pat Willis began counting both men out. At the count of 10, Harrell managed to climb onto the ring apron alongside McDonald. At the count of 18 Harrell rolled under the ropes and into the ring, but McDonald was still on the ring apron. McDonald was counted out and the fall and the match were awarded to Harrell. McDonald was furious and ranted and raved to no avail.
The main event was a women’s match between Cora Combs and Betty Hawkins. It was announced that the winner of this match would receive the newly established Southern Women’s Championship. Hawkins, billed as the Florida Women’s champion, pinned Combs to win the first fall. Combs came back to win the final two falls to claim the match and the Southern Women’s title trophy.
Also on Friday in Anniston, the card opened with a women’s match between Jo Ann Mullenniex and Ella Waldek. The match ended in a 10 minute draw.
The second match of the evening, between Tom Bradley and Chris Millssovas, also ended in a 10 minute draw.
The main event was a mixed tag team match with Bradley & Mullenniex facing Millssovas & Waldek. Millssovas & Waldek won two out of three falls to win the match.
The following Monday in Birmingham the opening one fall match featured Tom Bradley facing a new masked man calling himself The Red Bat. The masked man made his debut a successful one as he pinned Bradley to win the match.
The semi-final match of the night was between Jimmy Siksay and Charlie Laye. Siksay won two out of three falls over Laye to win the match.
The main event was a tag team match with Al Getz & Raoul Lopez teaming to face Wally & Danny Dusek. The Dusek Brothers won the first fall when Wally pinned Getz. In the second fall the Duseks spent as much time roughing up referee Red Byrd as they did their opponents. Byrd disqualified the duo and awarded the fall to Getz & Lopez. At the start of the third and final fall, Rube Wright entered the ring as the new referee as Byrd refused to continue in that capacity. Wright was much more lenient than Byrd had been and as a result the Duseks won the fall and the match.
Also on Monday in Shreveport Rex Mobley faced Bill Cazzell in the one fall opening match. Mobley used a rocking chair cradle on Cazzell and pinned him to win the match in 15 minutes.
Johnny Henning and Sockeye Jack McDonald faced off in the second one fall match of the night. The match ended in a 30 minute time limit draw.
In the third match of the night, also a one fall bout, World Light-Heavyweight champion Henry Harrell faced Charlie Carr. Harrell used a rolling cradle to pin Carr in 10 minutes to win the non-title match.
The main event was a Battle Royal with all six men who had wrestled in the preliminaries participating. Johnny Henning eliminated Jack McDonald in 4 minutes with a reverse body press. Charlie Carr was the next to be eliminated followed by Rex Mobley. This left Henry Harrell, Bill Cazzell and Henning remaining. Harrell pinned Cazzell to eliminate him, leaving Harrell and Henning as the final two. Henning surprised everyone when he pinned the veteran champion Harrell to win the event after 15 minutes.
On Tuesday in Monroe the card featured a double main event. In the first feature Wild Bill Steddum returned after an absence of over a year and was matched with Sockeye Jack McDonald. Neither man was known for following the rules, so this match figured to be a wild one. McDonald pinned Steddum following a backbreaker to win the first fall in 11 minutes. Steddum forced McDonald to submit to a stepover toehold to win the second fall in 12 minutes. Steddum applied the same hold in the third and final fall but McDonald managed to escape it. McDonald then bodyslammed Steddum and pinned him in 9 minutes to win the fall and the match.
In the main event World Light-Heavyweight champion Henry Harrell put his title on the line against challenger Rex Mobley, a five time former champion. Mobley used the rocking chair cradle to pin Harrell to win the first fall in 10 minutes. The start of the second fall was delayed for 5 minutes as Mobley demanded that Harrell display the championship belt. Harrell had carried the title belt back to his dressing room following the first fall and had not brought it back out. Mobley smelled a rat and demanded that it be returned to ringside. Referee Pat Willis went to the dressing room and returned with the title belt. Willis gave the belt to Commissioner David Silverstein, who was sitting at ringside, and the match resumed. Harrell softened Mobley up by ramming his back into the ropes, finally pinning him after a bodyslam to win the second fall in 6 minutes. In the third and final fall Harrell jumped onto Mobley from the ropes and pinned him in 6 minutes to win the fall and the match to retain his title. The ringside spectators complained that Willis had failed to see that Harrell had put his feet on the bottom rope for extra leverage during the pin. Willis’ decision stood but Commissioner Silverstein announced that the title would be held up pending a rematch.
That same Tuesday in Baton Rouge the main event was a tag team match with Charlie Laye & Jimmy Siksay taking on Raoul Lopez & Danny Dusek. Dusek pinned Siksay following a series of flying tackles and bodyslams to win the first fall. Siksay came back and used the same tactics on Dusek before pinning him to win the second fall. Throughout the first two falls, Lopez had not event stepped into the ring, leaving Dusek to carry the load for their team. That changed in the third and final fall when Lopez finally tagged into the action. He didn’t last long, however, as Laye pinned him to win the fall and the match.
Two one fall preliminary matches featuring the same four wrestlers preceded the main event, but the principles and results are not known.
Also on Tuesday in Mobile Charlie Keene and Rube Wright wrestled to a draw in the opening one fall preliminary match.
In the second preliminary match, also for one fall, Al Getz defeated Wally Dusek when Dusek was disqualified for illegal tactics.
In the third one fall preliminary match, the Red Bat pinned Tom Bradley following a series of forearm smashes to the head to win the match in 2 minutes.

Laye evened things when he pinned Dusek to win the second fall. Dusek continued with the rough tactics in the third and deciding fall, continually ignoring warnings by referee Phil Brummett. Dusek landed another low blow on Laye and Brummett disqualified him, giving the fall and the match to Laye.
In the main event Southern Jr. Heavyweight champion Jimmy Siksay faced challenger Raoul Lopez. Siksay pulled Lopez’s arms through his legs to roll him up for a pin to win the first fall. Lopez punished Siksay with an armlock through most of the second fall. Siksay, with his arm still being held by Lopez, hit the ropes and bounced off with a blow that flattened the challenger. Siksay quickly pinned Lopez to win the match in two straight falls to retain his title.
Also on Wednesday in Gulfport the card was to feature a main event tag team match with Pat Newman teaming with Johnny Henning to take on the duo Sockeye Jack McDonald & Wild Bill Steddum. The match was to be scheduled for best two out of three falls with a 90 minutes time limit.
Two one fall 15 minute preliminary matches made up of the same four wrestlers was to precede the main event.
The card was cancelled due to severe cold weather.
A strange turn of events also caused no wrestling to be held in Pensacola. Promoter Carl Wicklund had failed to pay the proper amusement taxes to the city and no longer allowed use of the Legion Arena. He was arrested on Saturday October 11 and was scheduled to appear in court on October 15. The outcome of the court case is unknown but Carl Wicklund never promoted wrestling in Pensacola again. Wrestling would resume in Pensacola in early November under yet another new promoter.
Wrestling did take place on Wednesday in Decatur. The card featured a double main event with both matches scheduled for best two out of three falls with a 60 minute time limit. Al Getz faced Wally Dusek in the first match while Rube Wright met the Red Bat in the second.

The Bat was joined on his team by Al Getz, Raoul Lopez, Rube Wright and Wally & Danny Dusek. The match was even going into the third and deciding fall, with each team winning a fall apiece. A strange thing happened between the end of the second fall and the start of the third. Red Byrd got into a dispute with his teammates and decided to join the opposing team. In return Al Getz switched to the other team and the third fall started. In a strange twist of fate, Getz pinned Byrd to win the fall and the match for his new team.
No wrestling was held in Jackson on Friday this week.
In Anniston on Friday Rube Wright met the Red Bat in the opening match. The Bat pinned Wright in 27 minutes to win the first fall. The Bat pinned Wright once again in 16 minutes to win the second fall, taking the match in straight falls.

Getz came back and pinned Bradley to win the second fall in 11 minutes. Bradley took the third fall by pinning Getz in 16 minutes to win the match.
The following Monday in Birmingham, the main event was a 10 man tag team match which went through a couple of changes before it finally took place. It was initially to have a team captained by Tarzan White with teammates Jimmy Siksay, Charlie Laye, Charley Keene and Tom Bradley. The opposing team was captained by Danny Dusek and his teammates, Wally Dusek, Al Getz, Raoul Lopez and the Red Bat. However White was injured in an automobile accident and was replaced as captain by Danny Novak. Yet when the match actually took place, Novak was absent and replaced by Rd Byrd and Siksay was named captain. The Dusek team won two out of three falls to win the match.

Referee Conway Baker disqualified Aztec and awarded the fall and the match to Mobley & McDonald.
In the main event Johnny Henning took on Henry Harrell. Henning surprised the veteran Harrell and pinned him to win the first fall. Harrell came back in the second fall and pinned Henning with a rolling cradle to win the fall. Harrell used some borderline tactics throughout the third and final fall before pinning Henning to win the fall and the match. After the match was over several ringside fans stormed the ring to show their displeasure of how referee Conway Baker officiated the match. It took nearly 10 minutes for Baker to get away from the mob and make his way back to the dressing room.
On Tuesday in Monroe the card was made up of a double main event. In the first event Sockeye Jack McDonald took on the Black Phantom. The Phantom pinned McDonald to win the first fall in 10 minutes. McDonald came back in the second fall and applied a backbreaker on the Phantom and pinned him to win the fall in 7 minutes. The third and final fall went quickly as the Phantom forced McDonald to submit to a Boston Crab in 2 minutes to win the fall and the match.
In the main event, the World Light-Heavyweight title was up for grabs as Henry Harrell, current champion, faced Rex Mobley. The title had been held up as a result of their match the previous week in Monroe and the winner of this match would go home with the title. To make sure a clean decision was rendered promoter Gus Kallio, himself a former World Middleweight wrestling champion, would handle the referee duties. The first fall saw both wrestlers adhering to the rules until Harrell started throwing punches. Mobley came back with a series of bodyslams and then applied the rocking chair cradle to pin him and win the fall in 10 minutes. Harrell tossed the rulebook completely out the window in the second fall despite Kallio trying to keep order. Kallio then stopped the match and asked for the public address microphone. He warned Harrell that if he continued to break the rules, he would disqualify him, award the title to Mobley and refund the audience their money. An irate Harrell left the ring and returned to his dressing room, but soon returned. But as soon as Harrell got back into the ring, Mobley once again applied the rocking chair cradle to pin Harrell to win the match in two straight falls. Rex Mobley was the World Light-Heavyweight champion for the sixth time.
Also on Tuesday in Baton Rouge Jimmy Siksay faced Wally Dusek in the one fall preliminary match. The match ended in a time limit draw.

The main event was a tag team match with Siksay & Dusek taking on the Dusek Brothers. Each team took a fall apiece and the match was even going into the third and final fall. The deciding fall was pretty much even until the Duseks rammed the heads of Siksay & Laye together and pinned them both to win the fall and the match. Laye was irate over how the Duseks won the match and chased them to the dressing room.
That same Tuesday in Mobile, Danny Novak substituted for the injured Tarzan White and faced Tom Bradley in the on fall opening match. Bradley pinned Novak to win the match.

The main event was a tag team match with Siksay & Laye facing the Dusek Brothers. The Duseks won the first fall when Wally pinned Siksay. Laye pinned Danny Dusek to win the second fall and tied things up. In the third and deciding fall the Duseks were double teaming Laye until referee Phil Brummett broke things up. When Brummett turned his attention to forcing Siksay to return to his corner the Duseks ganged up on Laye again. When Brummett turned his attention back to the action Danny Dusek had Laye pinned. Brummett counted the fall and awarded the fall and the match to the Duseks. However a local member of the state commission nullified Brummett’s decision and declared the match a no contest.
Also on Wednesday in Gulfport the card was scheduled to have Johnny Henning and Sockeye Jack McDonald meeting in one preliminary match while Pat Newman faced Charro Aztec in the other. Then Henning & Newman were to face McDonald & Aztec in the main event tag team match.
Newman failed to appear so the card was rearranged to have Henning, McDonald and Aztec meeting in a three man elimination match. In this match the first man eliminated would leave the ring then the remaining two would continue in a best two out of three falls match with a 90 minute time limit. McDonald & Aztec double teamed Henning and severely weakened him. But McDonald suddenly turned on Aztec and was pounding on him until Aztec tossed McDonald over the ropes, eliminating him in 4 minutes. Aztec then turned his attention to Henning and was giving him a hard time until Henning tripped him up. Henning forced Aztec to submit to a stepover toehold to win the first fall in 11 minutes. Finally referee Pat Willis disqualified Aztec for stomping on Mobley’s throat, giving the match to Mobley in two straight falls.
The main event was to be a World Light-Heavyweight title match between Henry Harrell and Sockeye Jack McDonald, but Harrell had lost the title to Rex Mobley on Tuesday night in Monroe. So the two now former champions were hoping a win would propel them into a title match with Mobley. The match resembled a bare knuckles fight more than a wrestling match but Harrell managed to take two out of three falls from McDonald to win the match.

Moran managed to tag in Mobley who chased both of his opponents from the ring. The Phantom & Aztec argued among themselves while they were outside of the ring with neither wanting to get in the ring with Mobley. Mobley tagged Moran back in but he was soon trapped in the opposition’s corner once again and was severely double teamed. Moran was groggy enough that Aztec was able to pin him to win the first fall in 15 minutes. All four men spent much of the second fall in the ring at the same time until Mobley & Moran focused their attack on the Phantom. They took turns slugging him as he bounced between them like a bouncing ball. Moran finally pinned the Phantom to win the fall in 6 minutes. In the third and deciding fall, it was Mobley who was trapped in the corner and double teamed. Mobley was finally able to tag Moran who quickly had the Phantom in a pinning position. Aztec leapt into the ring and kicked Moran off of the masked man and dragged the Phantom on top of him. Referee Pat Willis counted the fall and awarded the fall and the match to Aztec & the Phantom. The fans at ringside were irate over this until Commissioner Dr. J.T. French entered the ring and informed Willis of Aztec’s actions.
