A Recap of October 1950

#PWHS #Review #Recap #GCCW #GulfCoast #Wrestling #ProWrestling

The first card in October was held on Monday in Shreveport. The card opened with a one fall women’s match. Millie Stafford defeated Lilly Bitter in that match.

In the semi-final George Curtis and Charlie Laye met in a best two out of three falls match. Curtis scored the opening fall after he pinned Laye. Laye came back and won the next two falls straight to win the match.

In the main event Jack Curtis teamed with his protégé Lilly Bitter to take on the Black Phantom & Millie Stafford in a mixed tag team match. The Phantom pinned Curtis after stomping him in the throat to win the first fall. Curtis evened the score when he pinned the Phantom after a series of flying mares to win the second fall. In the third and deciding fall Bitter hit Stafford with a series of dropkicks and pinned her to win the fall and the match.

On Tuesday in Monroe, George Curtis faced Billy Sandow in the first of a double main event. Curtis took two out of three falls from Sandow to win the match, which was a hard fought but clean match.

In the main event Henry Harrell made his first appearance in Monroe in months as he took on the Black Phantom. The Phantom took the first fall when he pinned Harrell in 12 minutes. Harrell came back and scored the second fall with a pin in 8 minutes. In the third and deciding fall Harrell had the Phantom up against the ropes and was attempting to unlace his mask. Referee Bill Barney tried in vain to break up the action only to be shoved by Harrell.
