Jack Claybourne
Jack Claybourne also went by the names Jack Claybourn, Happy Jack Claybourne, Elmer Claybourne, Gentleman Jack Claybourne and the Black Panther. He was born in 1910. He wrestled professionally from 1932 to 1958.
The publicity for his 1948-49 Hawaiian tour had him being born in Boston and boxing for 2 years as a pro. He told a sports writer that, “I found I could make more money wrestling, And a wrestler, doesn’t have to bother with managers and trainers. He works for himself.” He added that he’d wrestled all over the world, save for the southern US, where racism prevented him from getting matches.
He tragically committed suicide on January 7, 1960, in Los Angeles, California.
