Some wrestlers who suffer major injuries retire from the business. But not Pirata Morgan. Born Pedro Ortiz Villanueva, he started his career in lucha libre in 1979 under the name Siki Ozama II, teaming with Siki Ozama I, and later became Ramon Morgan.
During a very famous match in 1981 at the Arena Colosseum Tapatía Perl, against El Jalisco, Morgan went for a dive out of the ring, and Jalisco was out of place. This caused Morgan to hit the group face first, and blood gushed out of his eye, spraying all over the fans in the front row. It was originally thought he wouldn't even survive until the next morning.
He had the eye surgically removed, and almost a year later, returned to lucha libre, now with an eye-patch over the right eye, and using the name "Pirata Morgan", a tribute to the 16th century pirate, Henry Morgan. The eye injury ended up being a "blessing in disguise", as with his "rudo" (heel) work ethic, he became a huge draw in Mexico, winning major singles titles and awing fans all across the country.
Pirata Morgan's most famous "trio" (six-man) was "Los Infernales" with Satanico and MS-1, although he still wrestles to this date in the promotion "IWRG", as part of "Los Piratas", and been involved in 41 hair matches in this career, winning 14 of them.
