American Nightmare
An Untold Tale Of Dusty Rhodes
#PWHS #Article #AmericanNightmare #DustyRhodes
The year is 1989. The American Dream Dusty Rhodes has left JCP (Jim Crockett Promotions) and the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance), and has signed on with the WWF (World Wrestling Federation, now WWE). Shortly after his debut he was put in polka dots and partnered with his valet, Sapphire, Juanita Wright. Now, many looked down on the dots, but according to Dusty he had the biggest year financially due to the dots, but I don't think Dusty cared very much for those yellow polka dots. But, he made it work. However, this is a fantasy piece. A tale never told before! So, sit back, grab a snack, and enjoy!!!
It's 1989, and Dusty Rhodes has agreed to a contract with the WWF. During his final meeting with Vince McMahon, the owner of the WWF, Vince tells him what they want to do with him, and Dusty agrees like what he hears. So, in the summer of 1989, Dusty Rhodes debuts!
WWF Superstars
WWF World Heavyweight Championship
Macho King Randy Savage beats Hulk Hogan by disqualification due to Zeus's interference. They both attack Hogan, until...*Arena plays Common Man Boogie*...Dusty Rhodes comes down and makes the save! The crowd goes nuts! They can't believe what they are seeing! Dusty Rhodes in the WWF?! Unbelievable!
This leads to a tag team match two weeks later on Superstars.
Dusty Rhodes and Hulk Hogan beat Randy Savage and Zeus (with Sensational Queen Sherri).
The following week Dusty speaks!
"The world has been talking baby! The American Dream in the WWF! Don't get no better than that they sayin'! Well, they ain't seen nothin' yet, daddy! The American Dream is just gettin' started!"
The next week Dusty Rhodes has a match and is attacked by Zeus!
Dusty Rhodes beats Randy Mann (I made up my own preliminary guy). Zeus attacks Dusty and leaves him for dead.
The following week Dusty has a question for only one person.
"Ya know, since the events of last week, I need to know, where was the Hulkster?! I've been by his side ever since I came here, but the one time I need help, he nowhere to be found. So, Hulkster, get out here right now daddy!"
Hulk Hogan comes out, and hears some boos!
"Hulkster, you let me down, you let these people down. Why? Where were you?"
"Dusty, brother. If I knew you were in trouble, I would have been there dude. But, you got understand, I'm the World Champion, brother, and I have a very busy schedule because of it!"
"So, you saying you're too busy to help a friend out when he needs you? Same old story, Hulkster! These people, they look up to you and when Andre and Savage turned on you, it's easy to blame them. I don't blame them. I blame you!"
Dusty Rhodes turns on Hulk Hogan! He attacks him on the stage where they conduct interviews.
The next week, Dusty explains his actions.
"I owe nobody nothin'! These people were betrayed by their hero, the 'Immortal' Hulk Hogan. It has happened before. I'm the only one brave enough to say Hulk Hogan, you're not a man. You're not a hero. You're a never was! Soon, all these people will realize that what I say is true. I am not the villain! I am the hero!"
