It was August 3, 1991 in Philly. Eddie Gilbert versus Cactus Jack in a classic Three Match Night at a Joel Goodhart Tri-State card. This was their third headliner in a five month period; and the fans could not get enough. This night was considered the best of both careers to many critics including the two participants.
In the Falls Count Anywhere match Gilbert piledrives Cactus through a table and chair shots to the head causes blood to flow from Gilbert. A diving clothesline from the apron gives the first match to Cactus. Gilbert gets on the mic and says if he loses again that night he would retire for good from Tri-State Wrestling. He is a little late for second fall as the doctors are bandaging his wounds.
Gilbert wins the Stretcher match with the help of a trash bin and a beer bottle. He smashes Cactus with the bin, smashes a bottle over Cactus’ head, and grinds half of the bottle into his head. A piledriver on the floor, a DDT, and repeated bashes with the ring steps. Cactus is carried out.
Before the Steel Cage match could start, the announcement is made that Cactus will not be able to continue. Foley’s music is heard and he enters to do battle and battle they do. The cage was destroyed, the two wrestle through the crowd , a chain used by both, the ref is knocked out, Eddie’s brother came to help him beat Cactus, and Bam Bam Bigelow saved Cactus. Finally the unpopular decision of “NO CONTEST” is heard over the PA system and the fans cry something about “ Bulls” as the night comes to an indecisive end...but one that every one in attendance will never forget.
